When you have good resiliency, you have a good energetic presence. Resiliency is the ability to bounce back from difficulty or challenge. But why do your resiliency and energetic presence matter?
Studies indicate that you’re more successful in your entrepreneurship and leadership when you have those soft skills of resiliency and energy. But these skills aren’t things you get in school and do take some work to cultivate. Many of us go through huge moments of tragedy and heaviness, but building resiliency helps you move through these difficult moments and keep going.
The Seven Cs of Resiliency
Competence
Competence is all about showing up and doing the work. Doing the training, being present, and reaching out to your upline and sideline is critical. You’re well on your way to building resiliency.
Confidence
Confidence is all about repetition. Go out and do what you need to do every single day—rinse and repeat. It’s hard not to feel like you’ve fallen down or you’re not connecting, but continue repeating your steps until you have your path nailed down.
Connection
Zyia Reps have the advantage of falling back on Zyia’s pillars and the Zyia community. Any time you can make a connection and make them feel valued, you’re establishing a connection. Practice vulnerability to let others see you have the same challenges and difficulties.
Character
Who are you? Your values define your character. Remember, your roles are just labels, but don’t get to the heart of who you are. Assess your core values to understand better who you are and how you can best reach out to customers and your team members.
Contribution
Every time you connect with someone in a meaningful way, you’re contributing to their lives. Your contributions aren’t always tangible, so it is easy to overlook all the wonderful things you did. Try starting a contribution journal and list all the things you did, big or small. You’ll be able to see all the ways you’ve added value to your life and the lives of others.
Coping
Acknowledge that you’re doing hard work, and speak to yourself kindly and caringly. Celebrate yourself the way you would celebrate your best friend. And don’t forget to share with your friends and community. Be vulnerable in your VIP group, and you might be surprised who else can identify and connect with you. The ‘reframe’ is critical—it’s not about you. Nos will happen, but each is an opportunity to reframe and find fresh approaches. And some days, you might hit bottom and struggle with coping. Everything feels overwhelming, and you don’t feel motivated to do Zyia or other things in your life. Take a moment to slow down and find five things you can be grateful for. Speak the five things out loud to help them to feel more real.
Control
When you think about control, think about accountability. We are 100% accountable for what happens in our lives. But we need to separate accountability from blame or shame. When our numbers aren’t where we want them to be, it’s easy to shift the accountability onto others: the economy, your team, or your customers. But it’s not their goal or commitment—it’s yours. You have 100% accountability for that goal YOU created. You’ll always know you’ve done your best if you commit fully and own your goal.
Working on our seven Cs can happen in the little moments between the big things happening daily. As we practice them, we become more comfortable in the new patterns and can develop the resiliency we need.
